Common Questions

What you might be wondering

Twelve questions people ask before they write.

Fees

Do you take my insurance?

Knoll Therapy is out of network with every plan, so we do not bill your insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid. Some plans reimburse part of the cost of out-of-network care. Your plan decides.

What is a superbill and how do I use it?

A superbill is an itemized monthly receipt you can send to your plan to ask for reimbursement. It lists a diagnosis code, which your plan will see. Your plan decides whether it pays, and we cannot promise that it will.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a written estimate of what care will cost before you start. We send one before your first session. It is not a contract, and you can dispute a bill that comes in $400 or more above it.

How much does it cost and how do fees work?

Your fee is set out in writing before your first session and stays the same unless we tell you ahead of time. A limited number of reduced-fee places may be open. The fees page walks through it step by step.

Can I use an HSA or FSA card?

Yes. Health savings and flexible spending cards work for sessions here. Ask your plan administrator whether they need the superbill as well.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please give 24 hours' notice to cancel or move a session. A later cancellation may be charged, up to the fee for the session. Tell us if something unavoidable came up and we will talk it through.

Sessions

What happens in the first session?

It is a conversation, not a test. Dr. Gaston explains who can see your records, answers questions about fees and asks what you want from the time. You decide at the end whether to meet again.

How often and how long are sessions?

Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly or every other week. Your therapist sets the pace with you, and no number of sessions is promised.

Practice

Are you licensed where I live?

Dr. Gaston is licensed in Colorado. Video sessions are for clients who are in Colorado at the time of the session. If you live elsewhere, we are glad to help you look for a clinician licensed there.

What is confidential and what are the limits?

What you say in sessions is private. The law allows or requires sharing in a few cases, such as a risk of serious harm to you or someone else, or abuse of a child or an at-risk adult. Dr. Gaston goes over this at the start of your first session.

Can you see my teen?

Knoll Therapy works with adults 18 and older. If you are looking for care for a teen, we can help you find a clinician who works with young people.

Safety

What do I do in a crisis?

Call or text 988, any time. In an emergency, call 911. This office does not monitor calls or messages around the clock, so please do not use the contact form for anything urgent.

“I was surprised how quiet the hour was. Nothing felt staged, and I could say a thing and then take it back.”
