About

Therapy rooted in philosophy

Knoll Therapy is a solo practice. Dr. Jabari Gaston sees adults one on one, and he is the person you meet at the first session and every session after it.

The work draws on existential, humanistic and contemplative traditions. There are no formulas here. Sessions leave room to ask who you are, what you value and how you want to live, and to try small changes between visits.

Therapy at its best is a place to think clearly, feel what is there and decide what to do next.

Our Approach

The traditions we draw from

These traditions shape how we listen and what we ask. Each one looks at what it means to be a person from a different side.

  • Mist rolls over a forested lake shore at sunrise

    Existential therapy

Meaning, freedom, isolation and mortality are treated as ordinary parts of life that are worth talking about, not as problems to remove.

  • Cupped hands hold soil with a green seedling against a dark background

    Humanistic psychology

You are the expert on your own experience. The therapist's job is to listen closely and to take your sense of direction seriously.

  • Standing stones on raked gravel in a Japanese temple garden

    Mindfulness and contemplative practice

Attention to the present moment, practiced in session and at home, in ways that fit a busy week.
